You may find that it is impacting your physical health, which means getting sick more, impact on sleep and possibly even lacking energy and drive.
You might be thinking that the difficult journey you have gone through should be resolved by now because it has been a number of years.
If anything it would be nice to have some kind of treatment that you don’t have to keep going from therapist to therapist and not finding a good result. I would sure be nice if you could just enjoy life without this holding you back.
We have been able to see people heal from the impact of traumatic events through treatments like EMDR therapy which can provide so much relief for those who have been battling symptoms of anxiety and distress for so long.
Each of us have experience with Couples and Individuals, and want to offer you hope that you do not have to walk this alone.
An easy way of seeing if a therapist is a good fit, is to do a 20 minute consult.
My passion for helping others started with working in homeless shelters. This experience instilled a passion to hear people’s stories and recognize each person as unique and valuable. One of the most difficult times that has shaped much of my journey as a therapist is my own journey being diagnosed with a critical illness near the end of my Masters Degree. Thankfully treatment with a Bone Marrow Transplant work along with amazing support along the way helped me overcome.
One of the ways I recovered was my own work through EMDR Treatment; which I have not only benefitted but been able to utilize and help others heal.

Hello! I am Jilynne, a radically honest therapist who appreciates humor and swearing (if you’re into that). My primary goal in the early stages is to create a space that feels incredibly safe for you. So many people feel stuck and don’t know how to move forward. I can help you look at things from many perspectives (emotional wounds in childhood, harmful thinking patterns, major life changes, and more) so that you no longer feel at a crossroads in life.
I specialize in working with clients struggling with anger, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and meaning-making. My approach is integrative, consisting of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR, and elements of solution-focused therapy. Because each person is SO different, the approach used in sessions will be based on your unique concerns!
Since I will learn a lot about your life, I would like to share a bit about my own. I recently completed my Master’s through Yorkville University and am now a Provisionally registered psychologist. I was born and raised in Edmonton and am married with two cute (but very barky) fur children. I view myself as adventurous in the sense that I will try almost any activity at least once, some not more than once. I enjoy tapping into my playful, childlike side through dancing and singing. I also appreciate moments of stillness and calm such as by taking long, peaceful walks or immersing myself in a novel.
I know that therapy can be scary and vulnerable, and taking this first step can be so overwhelming. Just know that I see you. Not only do I see the challenges that you face, but I see the strengths you already possess. Are you ready to take this journey with me?

I will be working as a student doing online therapy with iMentalHealth and offering counselling at a low cost to those in the area of St. Albert and throughout Alberta.
I am a humanistic therapist with a Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) and currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology (MACP). My passion lies in fostering authentic connections and supporting individuals on their unique journeys toward self-discovery and personal growth.
Karen has worked in health care for 30 years as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner. She has been fortunate enough to work in diverse areas but predominantly in Critical Care. This has provided her with an understanding illness, the body, and the patient’s journey. She went into counselling originally to complement her knowledge and skills in nursing, however found value in supporting clients in their mental health journey. Understanding life throws each of us curve balls, and trauma whether bit “T” or “t” happens to all of us, it helping clients find their way forward which is invaluable.
Uniquely positioned to understand clients managing addictions, chronic disease, caregivers or those in later life, my experience in health care as well as counselling allows me to see the whole person. I also work with clients with anxiety, depression, grief, stress (e.g. work, personal), trauma and sports psychology.

Your mental health is critical to your overall health and wellness. At iMentalHealth Counselling Services, in St. Albert we provide individual counselling and couples counselling you may need to help you to live your best life.
Sometimes clients will come to us with a request for Christian based counselling and if this is something that is important to you, we can help to incorporate this into our approach. We want to give our clients the guidance they need to improve their lives and learn how to cope with the challenges they face daily, and that may involve the vital role of faith and spirituality. If incorporating a Christian perspective is important to you there is an option to request this in your consult or inquiry by email/phone. Whether you need assistance from a Psychologist, Social Worker, or simply need someone to talk to, we invite you to schedule a session with one of our experienced, compassionate professionals.
Many people have come to me saying that they have had a bad experience with psychologists and counsellors in the past, which is frustrating because it might make you hesitant about reaching out for help. The other thing to think about is that sometimes, there are therapists that you are just not going to click with and that is just the way things are.
If this is you, it may be helpful to have a consult over the phone to discuss what you are looking for, while also allowing you to ask questions. This is not a therapy session, but a chance to inquire and get a feel for the fit. I believe that a good relationship and authenticity are important in therapy, and would like you to have a better experience with us.
If you are unsure of which service area to book, you can simply book an individual or couples appointment and specify with your therapist in your intake what it is you are wanting to work on. Our categories are a way of helping explain our approach to different presenting issues. It is also not limited to these areas. Also if you are in need of immediate support please call the distress line or 811 to reach someone immediately. Thank you for visiting our site.
